SELF CONFIDENCE AND SELF ESTEEM

Many people who feel that they lack confidence or self esteem can and do benefit from the number of self help books that teach a number of techniques and approaches to show us what to do and say in certain situations. They can help build a positive attitude and are all that is needed to take that step forward.
But for others, for some reason they just do not work. For some reason there is just not enough within us to make that first step. Maybe it's a basic belief, such as "it wont work for me". Or maybe there is a part of you that wants to put all of this to work...and yet there is also a part that somehow holds you back.
Throughout our lives there are things that happen to us that we learn from, that empower us and give us confidence to move forward. But there are other times that take away our confidence, our self esteem, our belief in ourselves and our values. What has brought this about can be so deep seated that we no longer know that it is there. You say to yourself .."that's just the way I am" or "I have always been that way" , and this is what you truly believe.
But that is all it is. It is a belief. Beliefs are very powerful, they rule our society, our country, our religion, and are essential to us all. However they can rule our lives, in a very negative and damaging way.
We can limit ourselves about wealth - "You do not get anything without hard work" . Or about health "we all know there is no cure for this". -  About ourselves - "I am not very good at public speaking" or maybe "I hate groups of strangers I never know what to say". They can lead to anxiety, depression and illness.
But the fact that you are reading this also exposes another belief, that there is  something that can be done about it.
All of the symptoms mentioned above, anxiety, self confidence, self esteem, lack of motivation can be dealt with and can often be dealt with without the need for months of counselling and therapy. When they are cleared they often release a chain of events within our lives. A little like a stack of dominoes where you push one over and it knocks down an almost endless chain. The relief and joy at the end is exhilarating.
